A New Product Package Built Specifically for Bird ID App!
In the first week of June, we were honored to meet with several staff members from The Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithica, New York. The afternoon we arrived, they treated us to a tour of Macaulay Library and the Yang Center. The following morning, they met us in the Shindagin Hollow State Forest to test our KLOVER MiK products.
Our discussion largely revolved around enhancing the audio captured with smartphones for their Merlin Bird ID app. While we had the necessary components, the Lab's staff expressed a specific need for a package to streamline the purchasing process and the use of the products.
In a collaborative effort, the Cornell staff suggested that we build this new product package based on the KLOVER MiK 09. This bundle, designed for maximum convenience, includes a smartphone-compatible microphone, a wind cover, and a pistol grip, providing everything a Merlin user requires. Using the KLOVER MiK 09 instead of our Sound Shark would ensure that the Merlin users could focus on birdwatching without the stress of installing a microphone or adjusting its position as they trundled through the forest. As a result, we have created the KLOVER MiK 09 Merlin Bundle, a user-friendly solution that enhances the birdwatching experience.
The standard microphone supplied with this package is a Sennheiser XS-LAV-USB-C. This is an omnidirectional lavaliere microphone with a USB-C Connector that plugs directly into smartphones or tablets. It is known for its high-quality sound capture and compatibility with a wide range of devices. Wireless earbuds or headphones (not included) are required to monitor your audio while recording.
If the user wants to use cabled headphones with the Merlin app, two optional microphones with 3.5mm TRRS connectors are available, along with a USB-C adapter. The USB-C end of the adapter plug into a smartphone. At the other end of the adapter are two 3.5mm TRS jacks, one for the microphone and one for a headphone.
